By Former presidential aspirant Mathias Tsado has appealed to associates of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to convince him to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Tsado, who previously ran under the Action Democratic Party (ADP), said Jonathan possesses the leadership qualities needed to address Nigeria’s challenges.
“Yes, he has not declared his intention, but I am praying for the day President Goodluck Jonathan will announce he wants to run,” Tsado said.
He urged Jonathan’s allies to encourage him, recalling that similar rumours about his candidacy circulated ahead of the 2023 elections, though he ultimately did not enter the race.
Jonathan, a former Bayelsa State governor, served as Nigeria’s president from 2010 until 2015, when he lost to Muhammadu Buhari marking the first electoral defeat of an incumbent since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.
