Martha, who hails from Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi State, has been battling kidney disease since November 2024. She is currently admitted at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, fighting for her life.
Speaking from her hospital bed, Martha said she was first diagnosed at Oprime Hospital in Lekki before being transferred to Lokoja. Now, she is pleading for urgent help, saying, “Nigerians should not allow me to die now. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, please come to my aid.”
A breakdown of the medical expenses shows N25 million is needed for the transplant itself, while N5 million will cover post-surgery medications and care. Her parents, both civil servants, have exhausted their savings on previous treatments and are unable to fund the surgery.
A local NGO, the Participation Initiative for Behavioral Change in Development (PIBCID), has also stepped in, appealing to Governor Ododo and the public to help save Martha’s life. PIBCID Executive Director, Akande Rachael Remilekun, visited Martha at the hospital and urged well-meaning Nigerians to donate.
