The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has called on Nigerians to remember the sacrifices of fallen soldiers and honour serving members of the Armed Forces who remain dedicated to protecting the nation. His message was delivered during Easter celebrations in a statement by Defence Information Director, Brigadier-General Tukur Gusau.
“As we mark the celebration of Easter, I extend my heartfelt greetings to everyone — those at home, on duty, and in various theatres of operations across the country and beyond,” Musa stated, reflecting on the season’s message of sacrifice and hope.
The CDS compared Christ’s sacrifice to the courage shown by the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), saying their daily acts of service mirror the values of selflessness, loyalty, and courage. “Every day, members of the AFN embody the same spirit of selfless service through dedication to duty and unrelenting commitment to peace and national security,” he added.
He praised the bravery and resilience of Nigerian soldiers, especially those in harm’s way. “Let us remember our fallen comrades, men and women who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. May their memories remain eternal, and may their service never be forgotten,” he said.
General Musa also prayed for the speedy recovery of injured soldiers and comfort for grieving families. He encouraged troops to use the Easter season to reflect on unity, hope, and forgiveness — and to renew their commitment to duty and discipline.
“As Chief of Defence Staff, I remain proud of your efforts and confident in your ability to overcome challenges. Together, we will continue to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty with honour and dignity,” Musa
concluded.
