Troops Nab Wanted Kidnap Kingpin in Kano

In a major breakthrough for security forces, troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) have arrested a 55-year-old suspected notorious kidnapper during a recent operation in Sumana Village, Tundun Wada, Kano State. The operation was part of the ongoing efforts to clamp down on banditry and kidnapping in the region.

The arrest, which occurred on April 20, was made public in a statement released Tuesday by Capt. Babatunde Zubairu, assistant director of Army Public Relations for 3 Brigade, Kano. The suspect’s name was withheld due to the sensitive nature of the investigation.

Shortly after his arrest, the suspect was paraded before the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Ahmed Tukur, who was visiting troops at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Falgore, Doguwa Local Government Area. The visit was part of a morale-boosting tour during the Easter holiday period.

Brigadier General Tukur praised the troops for their bravery and efficiency. “This arrest is a clear indication of the professionalism and courage of our men on the ground,” he stated. “We will not relent until peace is restored to every community.”

Security forces also recovered a number of items from the suspect, including a fabricated AK-47 rifle, a dane gun, nine rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a woodland camouflage uniform. These items are believed to have been used in the suspect’s criminal operations.

Also seized were a desert camouflage vest, another woodland vest, and a Bajaj motorcycle seat allegedly used to hide weapons. General Tukur reiterated the Army’s commitment to working with local communities to bring lasting peace to the area.
