The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has rejected claims by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that it used military personnel to intimidate voters and party agents during the Kaura Namoda South State Assembly by-election.
Addressing journalists in Gusau, APC Publicity Secretary Yusuf Idris described the allegations as “baseless and unfounded,” stressing that security operatives were deployed solely to maintain peace and prevent electoral malpractice.
Idris accused the PDP of attempting to smear the reputation of security agencies in order to discredit the electoral process.
The APC further stated that the large voter turnout in support of its candidate reflects its popularity in the state, adding that the by-election results so far show a rejection of the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the poll inconclusive, the APC expressed confidence that the final outcome will affirm its strength in Zamfara politics.
