A Kwara State High Court in Ilorin has ordered that seven suspects linked to the alleged murder of Mojisola Awesu, a student of the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, be held in a correctional facility. The ruling was made on Monday.
Justice Ibrahim Yusuf issued the order after noting the absence of legal representatives for the 5th, 6th, and 7th defendants. The court stressed the importance of proper legal representation in the trial.
According to Pulsewireng, during the last hearing on February 3, 2025, the counsel for the 1st and 4th defendants were also absent, delaying court proceedings. The absence of legal representatives has raised concerns about the pace of the trial.
Before Monday’s ruling, only the prime suspects, Adebayo Joshua Happiness and Timileyin Kolawole, had been remanded in custody. The latest court decision now extends this order to all seven accused persons.
The case has drawn significant public attention, with many calling for swift justice for Mojisola Awesu. Authorities have assured that due process will be followed as investigations continue.
The next hearing is expected to take place in the coming weeks, with hopes that all defendants will have legal representation to allow the trial to proceed without further delays.
