Abiodun Presents N1.7 Trillion 2026 Budget Estimate to Ogun Assembly

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State on Wednesday presented a N1.69 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly for review and approval. The plenary session was presided over by Speaker Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide.

Describing the proposal as a “Budget of Sustainable Legacy,” Governor Abiodun highlighted that the submission comes at a period of enhanced economic growth, increased investor confidence, and inclusive development in the state. He noted that the 2026 Appropriation Bill is structured to consolidate the achievements of his administration over the past six years.

Unlike last year’s presentation, which occurred in the absence of former Speaker Hon. Kunle Oluomo following his removal in January 2024, Oluomo attended this year’s session.

Governor Abiodun called on lawmakers to expedite the scrutiny and approval of the budget, stressing its importance for sustaining ongoing development projects and initiatives across the state.

The 2026 budget estimate of N1,693,997,983,125 represents a significant increase compared to the 2025 Appropriation Bill, which stood at N1,054,542,020,147.47, reflecting the administration’s growing fiscal capacity and ambitious developmental agenda.

Responding, Speaker Elemide assured that the Assembly would conduct a thorough but swift review of the budget to ensure timely approval.

The budget presentation ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including retired Head of Service Shola Adeyemi, former Speakers Titi Oseni, Bashorun Muyiwa Oladipo, and Tunji Egbetokun, House of Representatives member Tunji Akinosi, Secretary to the State Government Tokunboh Talabi, traditional rulers such as the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, and Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, as well as past deputy governors Engr.
