By Contrary to earlier reports circulating online the family of Pastor Awolola Samson has clarified that he did not die as a result of the fire incident reported at the scene.
According to the family, the deceased did not set the fire and was not responsible for its outbreak. They explained that the fire was started by a labourer, while Pastor Awolola was only present to monitor the labourer in the course of his duties.
The family further stated that the deceased died after choking on thick smoke from the fire while attempting to escape through a fence, and not as a direct result of being burned.
They also corrected claims regarding his age, noting that Pastor Awolola Samson was 65 years old at the time of his death, not 73 as previously reported.
The family has urged the public and media organisations to verify facts properly before publishing reports, in order to avoid misinformation and unnecessary distress.
