Musa Warns: Missing World Cup a Disaster

Ahmed Musa has said it would be a disaster for Nigerian football if the team fails to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Musa stressed that missing the tournament would mean losing a generation of talented Nigerian players who deserve to be on football’s biggest stage.

Speaking at the Taiwo Awoniyi Sports Media Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State, Musa also praised Nottingham Forest star Taiwo Awoniyi for supporting sports journalists in setting up a functional secretariat.

“The Super Eagles are in a very difficult situation right now, but we believe in ourselves that we can still scale through,” Musa stated.

Nigeria currently sits in fifth place in Group C alongside South Africa, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, and Benin. Musa believes the upcoming Rwanda match is crucial for the team’s revival.

“The important game is Rwanda. If we can get the three points from that match, it’s going to be a turning point for us. But it is not just a job for the Super Eagles alone. Every Nigerian must be involved because we need their support,” he said.
