The Federal Government has received the first batch of 2,000 tractors and 9,027 other farming equipment from Belarus to boost mechanized farming and enhance food production nationwide.
Presidential aide Dada Olusegun confirmed the development in a video posted on X.com on Tuesday, highlighting the administration’s commitment to improving agriculture.
“Nigeria has received the first batch of the 2,000 tractors and 9,027 other farming equipment to be procured in 2025 as President Tinubu’s administration seeks to accelerate food production,” Olusegun stated.
The new tractors will be distributed under three key schemes designed to make mechanized farming more accessible to various segments of the agricultural sector.
This initiative aligns with the government’s broader efforts to enhance food security, reduce reliance on imports, and support farmers with modern technology.
With increased mechanization, experts anticipate higher agricultural output, improved efficiency, and a significant boost to Nigeria’s economy.
