Bello Muhammed Matawalle, admitting they were misled by false information.
Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna, CNF chairman Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed said the claims were part of a smear campaign orchestrated by political opposition aiming to discredit the minister’s integrity and distract him from his duties. He urged the public to disregard the initial press release.
“I wish to unequivocally state that I was misled by the information presented to me,” Mohammed said, adding that the earlier statements were exaggerated and politically motivated. “It was a witch hunt driven by envy of the minister’s accomplishments.”
Mohammed praised Matawalle’s record, stating the minister oversaw significant achievements during his tenure as governor, particularly in security, infrastructure, health, and education. He highlighted the construction of a new airport, major roads, and water systems.
The CNF chairman also noted Matawalle’s investment in security logistics through the purchase of over 200 Hilux vehicles and ambulances, alongside the installation of solar-powered street lights across Gusau. He said the administration also made significant improvements in healthcare delivery and digital infrastructure.
Mohammed concluded by commending Matawalle’s continued contributions to Zamfara State and Nigeria at large, describing his leadership as marked by “unwavering dedication and loyalty to the people.
