Gunmen Kill Two, Kidnap One in Kano

Gunmen launched a deadly attack on Faruruwa community in Shanono LGA of Kano State on Thursday night, killing two people, kidnapping one, and leaving two others injured. The assailants stormed the community market around 8 p.m., shooting at residents in a brutal act that has left the town shaken.

Local authorities confirmed that the injured victims are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. The chairman of Shanono local government, Hon. Abubakar Barau, condemned the attack in a statement released on Friday, calling it a troubling sign of the growing insecurity in communities bordering Katsina State.

“Our administration is doing everything possible to restore security in the area in order to protect lives and property,” Barau assured. He emphasized the seriousness of the situation and noted that urgent action was already being taken to prevent further violence.

According to the chairman, security operatives have begun investigations into the incident. He promised the full cooperation of the local council to help identify and arrest those responsible for the crime.

Barau also urged residents of Faruruwa to remain calm and vigilant. He encouraged them to work hand-in-hand with law enforcement to ensure the perpetrators do not escape justice.

Offering his sympathy, Barau extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured. The incident has sparked fresh concern over safety in vulnerable rural areas of Kano.
