The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Branch, has suspended its strike after the full payment of its members’ August 2026 salaries.

The union said the suspension took effect on Friday, September 11, 2026, following a resolution by its branch congress. The strike began on September 7 over the delayed payment.

In a statement signed by the ASUU branch chairperson, Innocent Nnubia, and secretary, Osita Nnajiofor, the union directed members to resume their academic and administrative duties immediately.

The duties include teaching, lectures, supervision, marking, committee meetings and submission of results, among other official responsibilities.

The branch executive commended members for their unity and discipline during the strike, saying their collective action produced a positive result.

The union, however, urged members to remain vigilant and monitor developments through its official platforms.

The strike followed a September 7 resolution by the branch congress in support of the ASUU National Executive Council’s “No Pay, No Work” position.
