Tinubu Presents ₦58.18 Trillion 2026 Budget, Prioritises Security, Jobs, Infrastructure

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly, titled “Budget of Consolidation, Renewed Resilience and Shared Prosperity.” The budget, totaling ₦58.18 trillion, aims to consolidate economic gains, strengthen resilience, and deliver shared prosperity across Nigeria.

Key allocations include ₦26.08 trillion for capital projects, ₦15.52 trillion for debt servicing, ₦5.41 trillion for security, ₦3.56 trillion for infrastructure, ₦3.52 trillion for education, and ₦2.48 trillion for health.

Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s improving economy, citing GDP growth of 3.98% in Q3 2025, inflation down to 14.45%, and external reserves at a seven-year high of $47 billion. He vowed strict budget execution, better revenue mobilisation, and performance-based monitoring of government agencies to ensure results are felt by Nigerians.

The president urged cooperation between the Executive and Legislature to deliver tangible benefits and accelerate ongoing reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
