President Bola Tinubu has assured victims of the recent Jos attack in Plateau State that such violence will not happen again, following a deadly incident that left at least 28 people dead and 22 others injured.
The President gave this assurance during his visit to Jos on Thursday, where he met with government officials, traditional leaders, and families affected by the attack.
Speaking to grieving residents, Tinubu said, “There is nothing I can give you, even in billions of naira, but I can console you and promise that this will not happen again.”
In an emotional moment, the President addressed a woman captured in a viral video holding her deceased son after the attack.
“I know your pain. I saw the video where you held your son, and I felt the agony in your heart. Only God can give you comfort and restore your joy. No amount of money can compensate for your loss. As a government, we will do our best to support and comfort you,” he said.
Tinubu also emphasized the need to restore lasting peace in Jos, noting that residents deserve to return to the safety and stability the city was once known for.
The Jos attack has once again raised concerns over security in Plateau State, with calls for stronger government action to prevent further violence.
