By The Zamfara State Government, led by Governor Dauda Lawal, banned all political activities in February 2025 to curb rising insecurity. The directive came after a security breach in Maru Local Government Area. However, the group claims Shinkafi defied this order by launching his political movement, Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Fronts, at his Gusau residence on February 5.
National Coordinator of Neutral Minds, Obed Bawa, accused Shinkafi of escalating political tensions in Zamfara. He also criticized Shinkafi for attacking the APC and President Bola Tinubu, saying such remarks could destabilize the state.
“Sani Abdullahi at the event also declared his intention to run for Zamfara governorship in 2027 under the APC. His criticism of President Tinubu’s appointments is also fueling political tension,” Bawa stated.
In response, Shinkafi denied violating any executive order, arguing that there was no official white paper enforcing the ban. He insisted the event was a private gathering within his residence and not a political rally.
On his criticism of Tinubu, Shinkafi stood by his words, stating that Zamfara deserved better political rewards for its role in Tinubu’s 2023 election victory.
