Pastor Umo Eno, has announced that all 31 local government areas in the state have begun receiving direct statutory allocations following the local government autonomy policy introduced by the Bola Tinubu-led federal government.
However, Governor Eno issued a stern warning to council chairmen against the misappropriation of funds, emphasizing that any misuse of resources would not be tolerated, as local government administration remains the closest to grassroots communities.
N5.1 Billion ARISE Grant for Traders and Artisans
Speaking at the maiden constituency briefing and town hall meeting in Abak Local Government Stadium, the governor unveiled a ₦5.1 billion grant package aimed at empowering traders, farmers, and artisans across the state.
The grant distribution included:
₦111 million to 178 farmers (crop, fish, and livestock)
₦176 million to 442 traders
₦30 million for six MSME operators
Equipment support for 198 craftsmen
Six beneficiaries of mini-buses
Three beneficiaries of carsGovernor Eno stressed the importance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as the engine of economic growth, vowing to continue supporting small businesses that sustain households and generate employment.
“These small businesses are the engine of the economy. They employ people, provide food for their homes, and keep the economy running. We must support them,” he stated.
Commitment to Rural Development
Governor Eno reaffirmed his dedication to rural development, explaining that his administration had painstakingly profiled all grant beneficiaries to ensure only genuine farmers, traders, and artisans benefit.
“No more will we sit in Uyo and write names of people we do not know. We have profiled all beneficiaries, visited their farms and businesses, and ensured they are real entrepreneurs.”
He further assured that all beneficiaries’ names, phone numbers, and addresses are available on the state government’s website for public verification.
To promote fairness, he clarified that the ARISE Grant is a one-time opportunity, ensuring that new beneficiaries will be considered in future disbursements.
