By The Kano State Police Command has confirmed that five officers are facing disciplinary action after appearing in a viral video allegedly helping a politician distribute cash to members of the public.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa clarified that the incident occurred on July 10, 2025, at the Coronation Hall of the Kano State Government House, following a ceremony—not during the August 16 re-run and by-elections, as had been widely reported.
Investigations showed that the officers were deployed to provide security for the event but were seen engaging in unprofessional conduct.
“The Command assures the public that appropriate disciplinary measures are being taken against the erring officers to uphold the integrity and professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement read.
The Kano Police Command also reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, ethical conduct, and maintaining public trust in the force.
